Awesome Space

My family has  been in Austin for two months now, living in an apartment which is about 900 square feet. My last home was around 3000 square feet. I am not complaining, my apartment backs up to the greenbelt and every morning I am greeted by a family of deer. A sight you don't often see in a big city. However, my lease is short-term and we are bursting at the seams so we are  beginning the process of shopping for a home.

The question is do we want to live on  one of the many lakes that border Austin, only about a 20-minute drive to be downtown? Or a downtown condo which would bring the excitement of walking to the wonderful restaurants and music venues  that this city has to offer? So Cal (south Congress) where the homes reflect the eclectic nature in the well known 78704 zip code. In this neighborhood, you will find large urban homes right next to 400 square foot cottages with a chicken coop in the backyard.

The Zilker neighborhood which is full of quaint historic bungalow homes mixed in with trees, trees and more trees and lots of artistic flare. And then there is Hyde Park, which is a popular and historic neighborhood in north central Austin. I am going to feature some of the homes we view on this site and would love opinions on which one you would buy. The home featured below is out of my price range but shows the eclectic style of Austin. This building dates to 1890, formerly the Protection Hook and Ladder Company No. 3 prior to becoming the legendary Capital Saddlery, you can see the capital out of the kitchen window.
